At FriendsQuarters (and all BC businesses by law), all alcohol must be served by certified servers / bartenders, and at FQ it is our policy that it is done by one of our staff members. Our friendly bartenders are an integral part of our team, serving as a point of contact for you, your guests, and our team. 

When it comes to hosting events with alcohol, we offer two options:

Traditional Cash Bar Setup: 
Let us handle everything! Our team will set up a classic bar arrangement, providing the necessary alcohol, mixes, and garnishes at a fair price for you and your guests. Payment options include both cash and card transactions.
Events at FQ with a cash bar are required to pay a Cash bar deposit, which is the usual charge for the bartenders without gratuity.
(1. Bartender = $44/h | 2. Bartender = $33/h | Membership price =$25/h per bartender ). 

The cash bar deposit will be refunded once the bar revenue exceeds twice the amount of your bartender fee. 
Example: Your bartender fee for your event is $462, sp you would get a refund once the bar revenue exceeds $924.

Open Bar (with BYOB): 
With this option, you pay for the alcohol, mixes, and garnishes, and bring it on the day of your event and provide the bartender(s) to serve your chosen beverages. The fee for the first bartender is $55/h*, and it's $44/h* for the second. 
If you choose an open bar, you will have to obtain a liquor licence. You can get your liquor licence on the BC Govt. website here.

We suggest a 2nd bartender for events with more than 30 guests and require it for events with an open bar and more than 40. We also require that at least one bartender be booked for the duration of your event.

Anyone renting the space must procure their own event insurance before the event starts with a minimum of $2 million in liability. 

This can be done easily by going to www.eventpolicy.ca or www.duuo.ca (generally costs about $20-$150 depending on the type of event and provider). Once you have this, please send a copy of the proof of insurance to admin@friendsquarters.com.

The policy above must list the following four entities as “additionally insured” on the policy:

Please note that this is essential and that the event cannot take place unless this step is completed and we have proof of insurance sent to us.

Will you be selling tickets?
